DDP plans to build on its core mission and to work collaboratively with businesses, institutions, and other key stakeholders in Detroit’s Downtown to achieve sustainability for its programs and initiatives. The DDP Board members and management are serving in leadership roles in the process to engage the targeted groups necessary to support a vibrant, sustainable downtown. DDP recognizes the importance of having a dedicated and predictable funding base in place for basic services on an annual basis.
The effort to establish a downtown BID is a priority. DDP is leading the coordination efforts to create a business improvement district. This effort will provide for a clean, vibrant, safe, and sustainable downtown environment. BID components that need to be developed include: campaign leadership, scope of services, research and data, property owner information and property values, multiple interactions with individual property owners, and interfacings with City Departments and City Council. As a part of this process, DDP will identify additional avenues for DDP to grow as the voice of downtown businesses and civic leadership and advocate for a competitive and attractive city center.
